It is time to think about what to add to the kitchen...

The kitchen is currently undergoing a long over due face lift. This has been a job on the to do list for the longest time and now 7 & a half months after moving into the house we finally have a blank canvas ready to add our own touch to the space. The kitchen was small and far too dark previously but we are taking it in the opposite direction, we have lighter cupboards & worktops and tiles to really open this space up and make it more inviting to spend time in cooking, something which I didn't like doing in the previous kitchen. The cupboards, sink and tap have arrived but here are the other items we are planning on picking up for the new kitchen...

Hisense Washing Machine

Finally it is time for a washing machine upgrade and we are looking at picking up this 9 KG Hisense one which is big enough for the two of us and has a mode for every occasion. The selling point for this was it having a sportswear mode as that is currently what I wash the most so it will come in super handy.

Hisense Heat Pump Dryer

We want the dryer to match the washer as much closer than this. With an anti-crease feature this would certainly make our lives much easier. This is a higher cost due to being a heat pump dryer however, it should pay for itself in the long run. The thing I am looking forward to most with this though is that it is so much bigger than our current dryer which should help speed up the washing and drying process.

Beko Pro Harvest Fresh

We have realised over the past few years that we don't really use the freezer as most of our food is fresh, we have certainly taken this into consideration when it comes to purchasing the new fridge freezer which is going to be a 70/30 fit to maximize the storage for fresh food. We instantly fell in love with this fridge freezer and hopefully having more space will help us with eating healthier.

Logik Dual Fuel Range Cooker

As soon as we discussed getting a new kitchen my sites were set on getting a range cooker however, unfortunately the space was too small for a 100 cm one so we have settled on a 90 cm one from Curry's. I am determined that the majority of my time now at home is going to be spent cooking healthy meals and also baking. All I can picture at the moment though is spending cosy weekends making a roast dinner in this cooker. I can't wait to have this purchased and installed.
Butchers Block & Chopping Boards

I have wanted a nice butchers block for a while so now it is time to make the purchase and I think I might splash the cash a bit to pick up one that is going to last. I am also looking at picking up some good quality chopping boards for the space as our old ones just weren't up to the job any more. The lucky thing this time around is we have somewhere to store these so we don't need to worry about space on the work surfaces.

Storage Jars

We are having a little bit of a pantry cupboard and I can finally create my perfectly organised food storage area with everything decanted and looking perfect. I need jars for cereals, pastas & rices then I think I am going to be getting some baskets for things like crisps and biscuits just so everything has it's home & is easily accessible unlike it used to be.

Fridge Storage

Things are going to be so much more organised than ever before in this new kitchen and that goes right down to organising the fridge too. I will be getting baskets for fruits and other little bits for cheeses, yoghurts and so on. I will be creating a fridge space of my dreams and making sure it helps me work towards my fitness goals rather than driving me towards ordering a takeaway.

Bread Bin

We are finally going to get a bread bin again after just having bread dumped on the side previously. It is undecided where this is going to live just yet but this one from Matalan is a definite purchase once I work out which colour I want. This is more than likely just going to be filled with Jason's sourdough and I am not mad about that.

Tea, Coffee, Sugar Set

Granted these are going to be going in the dining room for the coffee station but I will be getting these from Matalan to match the bread bin as I absolutely love these. It is undecided if they will be on display or in the cupboard but these are just what we need for finishing off the coffee station area.

Dinner Set

We are in the need of a new dinner set after throwing away our old one so the hunt is well and truly on. The plan with this is to purchase a nice plain set no fancy patterns or quotes like we have previously had. At the moment we have seen some we like in Dunelm, Tesco & Asda so hopefully we settle on one soon.
Stainless Steel Pans

We have binned nearly all our pans to start a fresh when the new kitchen is fit. For the fresh start we are going to be splashing the cash and finally purchasing the stainless steel set that we have been wanting for a long time. These are so expensive but should certainly be worth the money in the long run. Plus with the set we are wanting you get a bit of everything which is even better.

Stainless Steel Bowls

There is going to be a lot more cooking going on in the new kitchen and the equipment needs to reflect that. Gone are the plastic mixing bowls and we are going to look at getting some nice stainless ones which should last a lot longer and not stain if treated well. These will be more expensive but it really is a case of investing this time rather than buying and buying again.

So there you have it those are the items we are definitely going to be buying for the new kitchen. We still need to find a microwave, kettle & toaster alongside some blinds however, I think we are going to wait and see what colours will work best for these in the new space.

For now though it is time to finish off ripping things out of the current space and get fitting the new bits so we can start making the orders we need to. I am just ready for the chaos to end now and to get the new space completed.

See you soon,
Lucy
