The fitness lock in : Week 1

Every Tuesday on the site is going to be a look at how my fitness journey has progressed as I work towards that huge end goal I have my eyes on. These posts will be my weigh in results and hopefully show the losses week after week whilst also showing how I got there workout wise and the highs & lows of the week. I am hoping that doing these posts hold me accountable and keep me locked in and making progress for the whole of 2026 as I want to get as close to the end goal as possible by December. So here is how the week has going

Workouts

In terms of workouts the week didn't really go to plan as the weather wasn't on our side with roads covered in snow and ice. This meant that football was cancelled, I couldn't get to boxing and I couldn't get to the gym. I did manage about 15 minutes in the home gym to do a bit of a session however, I couldn't risk continuing as I didn't want to get injured due to the freezing weather. I also managed one football training session which was a real struggle with it being my first since the Christmas break.

Steps

My daily goal is to hit 8,000 steps a day and what a disaster that was last week thanks to those icy conditions. I wasn't risking injuring my knee or falling so I spent more time at my desk and in the house last week. I did manage to hit it twice in the period though which I guess is better than nothing. This is something to improve on for sure though.

Nutrition

The workouts might not have gone to plan but the nutrition has been worked on a lot lately. Before the start of the year it was takeaways and junk food galore however, now is totally different. We are yet to have a takeaway or meal out, we have cooked so much more lately. I have stuck to my calorie target daily and kept hydrated for a change. I am really impressed with the progress here as it has so far been a complete U turn and has helped me so much.

The Struggles of the week

The biggest struggle was definitely the weather stopping me being as active as I wanted to be. I wish I could have ticked off my steps every day and got to the gym a whole lot more but it just wasn't safe to do so. Now the weather has changed a bit though I can definitely get back into things properly and hit the ground running.

Focuses for the week ahead

This week is a case of carrying on with nailing the nutrition as it is helping me so much however, I am hoping to really increase my steps and get working out a whole lot more. I want to get back to the gym and also restart the Couch to 5K Programme.

Now for the all important part the weight:

Start of 2026 weight : 104.7 Kg

This weeks weight : 103 kg

Difference : - 1.7 kg

A 1.7 Kg difference was not expected with the lack of workouts but I will certainly take that. I wonder how much of a difference we will see next week when workouts have come into play.

My goals for the week ahead:

> Get closer to my 100 Kg target

> 8,000 steps a day for 5 out of 7 days

> Go on more dog walks

> Continue with no takeaways

> Go to the gym at least twice

I am feeling really positive for the week ahead and feel like plenty of progress can be made if I continue like I have whilst also ticking off the goals I have set for myself. Check back next Tuesday to see if things went to plan or not.

See you soon,

Lucy
