Some goals I am setting for myself

As I said in yesterday's post I am well and truly locked in on what I want from life now and let's just say finding that out has left me setting some goals for myself to achieve by the end of 2026. I will be honest this year has not gone to plan at all but with a few month remaining I want to make the most of it and start putting things in place to make sure 2027 starts in the best way possible to hopefully set me up for a successful year. I know that if I really knuckle down and stop procrastinating I can make the most of what is left of 2026 and prove to myself just what I am capable of achieving. I have plenty of big plans going forward so I have tried to make the goals reflect those plans in the hopes of really seeing a difference before January rolls around so here are those goals I have set myself to achieve by the 31st of December 2026...

Fully Document the building a football site journey

As I said in yesterday's post building the women's football site is my big priority and I want to fully document the highs and lows of doing this. To fully document it I will be doing no less than 1 blog post each week on the topic alongside showcasing the journey on my social media. There should be plenty to post on this as it become a big part of me so I just need to make sure I am holding myself accountable to produce the content to look back on one day or even the content that may help others trying to do the same as me.

Hit 1,000 followers on my main Instagram

My main Instagram is where I am going to be tying in the content to run alongside this website. I haven't used the account properly in recent years which has meant growth has well and truly stalled. Going forward though I am going to be posting the journey, the fashion side of things and the lifestyle side onto this account and I am hoping that I can tick this goal off in just a month or so as I post more, with better quality content and fingers crossed the growth will come.

Post a weekly building the football wardrobe series until the end of the year

To ensure I am documenting my journey of finding my style the plan is to post a weekly building the football wardrobe series. This could be recent purchase, wish lists, inspiration pieces and so much more but the goal is at least one post on the topic on the website each week. Making this a goal should help hold me accountable and maybe the series could end up on social media too but we shall see.

Stick to the plan

This is the plan now, I am 100% committed and I won't be starting over again before the end of the year. I have deleted posts off here for the final time and I am going to stick to the process and use this site for the journey. I don't need to be changing everything as I know what I want from life now so I just need to continue what I am doing rather than changing everything once again.

Start doing speaking videos on socials

By the end of the year I am determined to be doing speaking videos on social media. I haven't done these before due to a lack of confidence on camera & due to me hating my Yorkshire accent however, if I want to grow and gain opportunities that speaking content needs to happen! The goal is simple by the end of the year have multiple speaking videos on my accounts and I think the plan is simple, slowly work up to these so it seems less daunting.

Hit 1,000 followers on the Edge of the Area Instagram

If I hit this one I know that all the hard work is starting to pay off and I am hoping that it should give me a nice baseline to work off for a great 2027. 1,000 followers has been a goal for this account for a long time however, it has been massively neglected. By actually spending time on this account now though this is certainly going to be more than achievable I just need to be consistent with it.

Hit a 10,000 reach month on the Edge of the Area Instagram

This won't sound much to anyone else however, due to me not being consistent I have been lucky to hit 1,000 reach most months in 2026! By posting more and posting better content I am hoping that before the end of the year I can have at least 1 month with a 10,000 reach. I guess I have set this goal just so I can keep focussed on pushing content and hopefully knowing that this is a goal will keep me accountable and keep me consistent.

Post 7 match previews

I used to love posting match previews but then as I stopped posting on the women's football site as often I just never went back to them. I have realised these were some of my best performing posts so before the end of the year I am determined to have done at least 7 match previews done. These could be WSL matches or FAWNL matches just as long as there are 7 done by December I will be happy. Hopefully by doing 7 will bring that love back and I can be doing multiple a week before the end of the season but we shall see.

Post 10 match reports

By far my best posts on the football site have been match reports! However, these stopped due to me stopping attending games or not being able to watch on TV due to clashes. This is all changing now though as I am planning on attending a whole lot more games and also following along with TV games where I can. The goal is 10 match reports which should be more than achievable and again hopefully it sets things in motion for a bigger and better 2027.

Post a lot more FAWNL content

I don't want to just focus on the top flight of the women's game here in the UK, I really want to add a lot more FAWNL content to the site and social media. This is where everything started for the site so it only feels right that now I am on the journey of building the site I go back to my roots and bring in a bigger focus on the lower leagues. I am really looking forward to producing more content around these leagues and hopefully learning more about the teams around the country whilst reaching a wider community.

Attend all the Bradford City Women home games

A lot of my content has been centered around Bradford City Women in the past and as my local team I am aiming to attend all their home games where possible. The team have always been super welcoming and have supported me since day 1 so it only seems right to go back to where it started and enjoy supporting my local team. I guess it is safe to say there will be a lot of Bradford City content coming to the women's site in the near future.

Attend a game in a press box

A big dream is to get into a press box for a game this year and whilst this is a reach with only a few months left I am going to give it my all to get there. This would be an amazing opportunity and be a bit of a reflection to show things are heading in the right direction for me and my women's football content. With this being a reach I will say this, I won't be disappointed if I don't hit this by December as I will just keep on working until it starts to happen.

Post about the Lionesses

I have always neglected the international content however, that is no more. I am going to be posting plenty of Lionesses games around their camps and games before the end of the year. I am hoping this just sets the ball rolling for me to be building a Lioness community and an International fan base before the World Cup begins in 2027 (hopefully England qualify). I want to slowly build back into the international posts as I am already planning for plenty of coverage of the 2027 World Cup but more on that another day.

Make the PC set up more productive

Now I am currently saving up for some big changes to this area however, before the end of 2026 I just want to make some little changes to make this space much more productive overall. At the moment the space feels cluttered and overwhelming so that needs to change as I am going to be spending a lot more time at the set up. Just little things like accessory upgrades or changing the drawers around will leave me happy enough to tick this goal off as complete.

Upgrade my main camera

When I go to certain women's football matches I am going to be taking a camera so I have pictures to go alongside my reports and I feel like my camera needs an upgrade as recent pictures weren't my favourites. The camera I have is over 10 years old and times have changed so if I am serious about the photography side of things and upgrade is due. This will definitely be a worthwhile purchase though as it can be used for this site and other social media accounts too.

Buy a Dji Osmo Pocket

With me taking things seriously now I am all about improving quality and I think that a Dji Osmo Pocket would be a great addition to my tech equipment as it will certainly help me improve the quality of my content over on social media. It will also mean I don't always have to lug around a big heavy camera. Honestly though I am a tech geek at times so any excuse to get my hands on one of these.

There you have it those are the goals I am hoping to hit before the end of the year. If I really knuckle on down I should definitely be able to tick off over half of these but I guess only time will tell. All I do know though is it is time to stop procrastinating and start doing! These goals won't hit themselves.

See you soon,

Lucy
