My weight loss journey is now one of my biggest priorities as I am more determined than ever to get rid of this excess weight for good. With how long this journey has been going on I have been doubting myself and others have been doubting me so I am now more determined than ever to prove others and myself wrong and hit that big end goal. I have recently started a bit of a project where I am aiming to lose 30kg before my next holiday abroad. Hitting the 30kg by then would push me super close to my end goal and would be a great marker to show what I can achieve when I lock in properly. To get this journey underway properly I am going to be investing in different things in the hopes of them helping me achieve the results I am chasing...
My nutrition
A lot of my best results will come from changing my diet going forward. Previously it has been filled with takeaways, ready meals and a lack of anything healthy. Going forward I am going to be investing in the food I eat, I will be purchasing good quality fresh food with meat coming from our local farm shop, granted this will be more expensive but it is going to be much more beneficial. I will also be aiming for an ultra processed free diet where possible, by home cooking with the best ingredients my weight should start to drop and my body will feel much better. Takeaways will be reserved for special occasions and won't be anywhere near as frequent as they currently are and whilst I will still be going for meals out with family my aim is to pick better menu options and not those big greasy burgers.
Supplements
I struggle to get my protein in so where needed I will be taking clear whey protein to help me achieve these. I will also be having my energy gels when doing demanding workouts and football sessions as they really do keep me going. Then finally I am going to keep up to my vitamin stack daily as when I keep up with them my body really does thank me for it. The stack might change over time however, it will always include my daily multi-vitamins, vitamin D tablets and magnesium for an evening.
Sleep
Sleep is going to play a massive part of this journey as recovery is key so I want to make sure I am putting some money into this area going forward. At the moment out curtains let in a bit of light so the plan is to sort that issue out to blackout the room. A sunrise alarm is also on the list to buy so I can wake up naturally without the harsh alarm sound I currently have. My mattress could also use a bit of an upgrade so a nice comfortable mattress topper is currently being hunted down. Finally in the sleep category it is time to upgrade my pillows. My old ones just don't cut it any more and it is time to change that and get the pillows that will help me have a good nights sleep.
Recovery
Recovery is going to be key as I up the amount of exercise I do, I want to make sure I am not going to cause myself any injuries and that my body is in top condition. The massage gun is going to be added into a daily routine to ensure any little niggles are kept at bay. I am going to get the ice bath set back up too and I am going to try hit that daily, if not every other day as I feel so much better when I have been in here. Recovery days are also going to be on the cards, maybe every quarter going forward, a day off work spent in a spa... I can't really think of anything better. The plan is to have a sports massage every few months too as I know these work wonders with my body and I deserve it.
The gym
I am going to make sure I have the best level of membership possible at my gym and make the most of it. I am planning on starting off going two times a week and then slowly building up the amount of sessions I do. I will also be heading to the sauna that is in the gym as part of my recovery & also taking up swimming a few times a week to help my cardio. It is about time I made the most of my gym membership so let's do this.
New Equipment
Unfortunately where I live if the weather turns it turns and we can have snow when villages next to us don't have it. Luckily I still have my home gym for when I can't get to the actual gym however, the equipment in here isn't the best so going forward I am thinking of upgrading some of the items I have in the home gym to make sure I can progress with the exercises I do.
So there you go those are a few of the things I am going to start investing in going forward in the hopes of keeping locked in and finally see some progress with weight dropping off me to help me towards that big end goal. It is time for less talking now and more doing so let's go...
See you soon,
Lucy
