Bradford Bulls vs Leeds Rhinos.. Love Of Rugby Returns

Would you believe me if I said football wasn't the first sport I fell in love with? I can't believe it either with how football has taken over my life since I was around 7 year old. In fact the first sport I ever played was rugby, the league kind of course and I played this from around 6 year old to 16 years old on and off whilst also playing football.
I loved rugby that much that me and my grandad actually had season tickets for the Bradford Bulls for countless years and experiencing the highs and the lows of the club was fantastic but then real lift (money) and football got in the way and I stopped going to games. However, this has changed this year so far I have managed to get to 2 games and am hoping to attend more. One of the games I attended was Bradford vs Leeds, one of the biggest derby's of the game which doesn't get played very often due to the difference in leagues these days.

As expected there was a huge crowd and the atmosphere didn't disappoint. Neither did the rugby I was a little worried that the difference in leagues was going to mean Leeds ran away the game but you could see how much Bradford wanted it and every player gave 100% and eventually came back with the win. The game was close but that is what I love about rugby it is action packed and end to end. The result could have gone either way. A few suspect calls from the ref as usual going in Leeds favour but Bradford didn't let it knock their confidence and just fought back even harder.

You could tell by the players reaction just how much the win meant to them along with the reaction from the fans. With the Bulls winning it meant they advanced to the challenge cup quarter finals where they face local rivals Halifax, I am gutted though as I can't get to that game due to it being my nephew's blessing and I don't think the godparents can be missing from that. Just the feeling of being at the game and remembering why I first fell in love with it has made me want to consider a season ticket next season but still go to plenty this season to fill the void. With us also having Sky now I can see us watching plenty of games from the comfort of our home too. Going and watching made me miss my playing days too but I think those are well and truly over now I will just watch on from the stands in my Bulls shirt.

I just can't believe I forgot about it for so long but now I don't think I will be able to stop watching it and following it again. Come on you Bulls it is time to get back to those glory days and where they belong.

See you soon,
Lucy

March 2019 Pick Ups

I honestly did intend on getting this up earlier in April, but then life got in the way and I had bags of items just sat around waiting to be photographed, but finally half way through April here are the items I picked up in March...

I only went into the City shop intending to pick up a kit for the nephew (which I did, I just forgot to get a pic before giving him it) but came out with this mini kit to hang in my car. I already have a City sticker & air freshener so why not at this to it for just £3. I have gone a bit City mad.

This action camera is possibly my favourite purchase as it is actually for the blog. When I do any sneaker or football boot reviews this will be used to show off the shoe. I will also be using it for possible training videos over on my instagram. I can't wait to get using this to make my content better. At just £19.99 it is the perfect starter.

We only went to the Disney store to get Liam's mum her mothers day present yet I came out with this Dash soft toy for under £5. I was obsessed with Dash after watching the first Incredibles, in fact I used to wish I had his pace whilst I was charging around the football pitch (would have come in handy) plus I already had Jack-Jack so why not add Dash to the Disney soft toy collection.

As some of you may know I am absolutely obsessed with Stitch so when I saw this bubble blower for £14 in the Disney store I wasn't leaving without this. To be honest this is only 50% for me I have also got it to keep at ours for the nephew but I don't know who is going to love it more me or him. This is going to be perfect for any BBQ's we might have.

Carrying on with the Stitch theme the family has also been keeping well stocked. The Primark Stitch range is killing it right now so they got me a new water bottle, some novelty straws and this jug and tumbler set. The jug and tumblers are also going to be perfect for when we are out in the garden.

My nanna also picked up these star wars mugs for us and I love them, although they are absolutely huge. Did we need new mugs? Definitely not, but I am so glad we did.

I also finally found a Philadelphia Eagles hat and it is about time. Liam has the Patriots version of this and I was so jealous as it is super soft and cosy. So as soon as I saw this I picked it up. It also means I finally have some Eagles merchandise.

The Eagles hat was on a 2 for £35 offer, so to make the most of it I treated my self to a Calgary Flames t-shirt. I can't quite afford a hockey jersey yet (they are far too expensive) and the flames are my team. I had wanted some flames merchandise for a while but it is so hard to find at a reasonable price here, no way was I passing on this t-shirt.

So there you have it, those are my pick ups for the month of March.

NWSL Predictions

The NWSL kicks off again on the 13th April, and I can't wait. It only ended last season in September last year but it feels like it has been gone forever. I am hoping that this season isn't such a one sided race and goes down to the wire, something that is going to be a good test for the teams is the World Cup, there is a short break in the league for the tournament however, the break doesn't last the full competition meaning that some big names my be missing out on a few rounds if their National team progresses in the World Cup and some of those names missing could be Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath and Sam Kerr to name just a few. This will mean that some rookies may get chance to make a name for themselves alongside those fringe players. It is going to be a nice change from having the same players week in week out and picking up some new talents. It could really be those few weeks that the big names out that could really mix the league positions up as it really opens the teams up.

So here is how I realistically think the league could go this season,

Portland
Utah
North Carolina
Chicago
Orlando
Reign
Houston
Washington Spirit
New Jersey

It took a while to pick out the order I think the league will play out in but honestly my opinions are based on the teams losing big names throughout the world cup but being strong enough with the rest of their squad. I really think Portland could have the depth needed to just help them break through. I think Utah could be a strong challenger in their second year too as they can have the build up to the World Cup with O'Hara, Sauerbrunn, Corsie and Press but again I think their squad has the depth required to pull off that time when the big names have gone.

I have had to put Sky Blue down at the bottom as I think some of their off field issues may have had an effect and with so many players moving around i.e Leon to West Ham I think they have a fair bit of rebuilding to do plus with the possibility of losing Lloyd for a few games this could also effect them.

So there you have have it that is just a quick prediction post to get ready for the NWSL kicking off. I can't wait to sit and watch as many games as possible. It should hopefully be a good season. Keep an eye on the blog too as there will be plenty more football content coming very soon.

Sports App Takeover

I have noticed lately I don't have much on my phone, just the usual social media apps, 2 games a few gaming ones, some for the home (smart lighting) and about 4 left for my health. The main thing on my phone is sport apps and to be honest I really aren't surprised as 90% of my time is spent checking up on the teams I follow as well as seeing what else is going on in the sporting world. This folder is forever growing but here is what I have so far...

ESPN- This is a fairly new app I have downloaded but is slowly becoming one of my favourites as it has all of my favourite sports and teams in one place for me to keep track of.

WNBA - This is also a pretty new one as I am finally giving the WNBA a go, for years I have been in and out of watching the NBA but its time to give the women's game a go. I love this app already as I can keep up with all the latest news, games and even stats. There is plenty of content hidden in this app that I cant wait to look into a bit more as the season begins.

NFL - One of my favourite sports at the moment, I love the NFL every year we watch the Super Bowl and I follow all the latest on my Eagles. This app is perfect as not only do I have the news tab for all teams but there is a specific one just for the Eagles as I put them as my preferred team, meaning all the news is in one place. It is also great for finding out the standings each week.

NHL - This app is very similar to the NFL one, with a designated tab for my Flames then the NHL latest and standings. I am trying to get more and more into my hockey and fully support the Flames so this is a great way to start.

NWSL - This is my favourite app as it is one of the biggest leagues I fully follow. I can use the app to keep up to date with latest new, team rosters and standings. It is also one of the best ways for me to find the full schedule and have it all in one place. It is also where I can find out the leading scorers, along with player and team stats, which are all useful for the blog.

Sky Sports - I love this app and I still haven't fully set it up. Not only can I track all sports from this but I can also personalise it to what I love the most. The first page is top stories, football scores and transfer centre which is perfect for me. I can also watch highlights through this along with live TV, perfect for whilst I am out and about.

BT Sport - This has been my go to app lately as it is my only way of watching what is on BT Sport. Thanks to this I can watch plenty of footballing action including plenty of women's games. It has even made me get into the A-League bringing more football to my attention. I recently noticed they also show a fair bit of AFL on here so I think that may be the next thing I start watching.

Sky Bet - Now I don't use this religiously like the other apps. I just put the odd £5 on football every few month, not that I ever win much back.

NBA - This app is another I can't wait to get using more, its great how you can personalise the experience (just need to get signed up). It is great how I can keep up with news and watch the best bits from the games. Plus you have the section where you can keep up with the games day by day, showing the results once they are played too. Plus you have the handy standings section which is broken down to league, conference and division. I can't wait to start following the NBA a lot more as it is a sport I am always in and out of.

MLS - The MLS app is another recent download that I can't wait to use more and more. With the latest news and videos along with scores and schedules this is going to be the perfect app for me as I get more into the MLS (check out my post about this here) I also have the handy Orlando city tab where I can keep up with the latest news, videos, schedule and roster. Alongside this we have the standings tab where not only can I see this seasons standings but also the previous 2 years. There is plenty more to this app which I can't wait to look around and play about with.

So there you have it, those are the sport apps I am currently using, I can't wait to use these more and more to help me keep track of the sports I love. If you want a more in depth review of any of these apps please let me know.
